WCCA, West Coast Contemporary Art started from a passion for the visual arts and it is our intention to share with art lovers in Singapore some of the art we are so passionate about. It is our goal to function as the art center; to stimulate interest; initiate observation and motivate art discourse through programs or events, and bring Singapore up to date on American contemporary art. We are here to offer an alternate choice to art collectors and art lovers. We aim to bring good art to the individual or corporate collector. We understand it is a challenging route we have chosen, as the art scene in Singapore is predominantly South East Asian in nature. Nonetheless, we are determined to mount a series of eight to ten exhibitions from our stable of very relevant and successful American artists. In the long run, we hope to bring Singapore to the world stage in terms of collecting art, hopefully going beyond the genre of South East Asian Art.
American contemporary art has been the driving force of the art world for the last seventy years and with the recent global interest in art, we feel that this is an opportune time to introduce some of America's most interesting artists to Singapore. To us, the hot spot of the art world is still in America and we want to bring some of this excitement across the ocean.
WCCA passion for the visual arts is deeply rooted in our fifteen-year history of being in the American art scene. Our gallery core aesthetic is American west coast art and west coast art is typically very colorful, spacious, and whimsical. These artworks reflect the nature of the American west coast culture (specifically Los Angeles/Las Vegas) as opposed to east coast art that is of a more serious and muted-palette nature. What defines American West Coast Art is not region based per se, but more about the style, form, and the medium used. We do not discriminate against the geographical origin of any artwork but rather; we subscribed to the basic theory of good art - beauty.
